Officials confirmed this morning that the chairman of Taiwan's Kuomintang (KMT) will visit the mainland from April 26 to May 3.

Lien Chan's trip will include the cities of Nanjing, Beijing, Xi'an and Shanghai in a schedule agreed jointly by the Taiwan Work Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the KMT.

Lien will lead a delegation at the invitation of Hu Jintao, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee.

On April 18, Chen Yunlin, director of the Taiwan Work Office, held talks with Lin Feng-cheng, KMT secretary-general, to finalize the details of Lien's visit.
