Brazil to Limit Imports from China
Adjust font size:

Brazil has announced it is putting restrictions on the surging flow of imports from China to protect its own industries.

Brazilian President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva will sign two decrees limiting imports.

A spokesman from the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade said one of the restrictions is on all imports from China and lasts until 2013.

The other one is only on China's textiles until 2008, which will include quotas and a higher customs duty.

But he said the two decrees would not be implemented before further consultation with domestic industries.

China has been facing more problems with its foreign trade partners following the lifting of global textile quotas on January 1 this year.
