Over 200 foreign diplomats, business and members of the press
working in China visited an exhibition marking the 60th anniversary
of the end of the Anti-Fascist War and China's resistance war
against Japanese aggression.
The exhibition hall is beside Lugou Bridge, also known as the
Marco Polo Bridge, about 20 km south of downtown Beijing.
On July 7, 1937, Japanese forces launched an assault on Lugou
Bridge. This has come to be known as the Lugou Bridge Incident,
which represents Japan's all-out intrusion into north and central
China.
Over 600 pictures and 800 relics are on display, chronicling
China's resistance to the Japanese invasion, and its contribution
to the anti-fascist war.
Mohamed Hassan Said, Somali's ambassador to China, said: "It is
important to remember how cruel the human being can be, and that it
still happens today. We should learn how to live together and
develop together."
U Thein Lwin, Myanmar's ambassador to China, said that Myanmar
was also bullied by fascists between 1943 and 1945, so it can
understand how the Chinese people feel.
