Earthquake Hits NE China City

An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale shook Lindian county in Daqing city northeast China's Heilongjiang Province on Monday night, according to the China State Seismological Bureau.

The quake occurred at 11:43 pm Monday. At the time of reporting, 7 have been reported injured in the quake. Eight aftershocks have occured by now.

The quake was centered at 46.9 degree north latitude, 125.0 degree east longitude, 33 kilometers north of Daqing city and about 180 km away from the provincial capital of Harbin, the bureau said.

People living in Daqing, Qiqihar, and Harbin felt the tremors, according to local government sources.
