A team of 10 Chinese experts left Kunming, Yunnan
Province, for Thailand on Tuesday at the request of the Thai
government to help with landmine clearance, according to military
sources.
The experts are from the landmine clearance training center of
the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) in Yunnan, southwest
China.
These experts were twice sent to Africa on humanitarian landmine
sweeping missions, the sources said.
To acclimatize to Thailand's tropical weather, the servicemen
underwent a three-month training program before departure.
Special apparatuses and equipment were made for use in the
mission, the sources said.
