Most parts in China will experience rain, snow and temperature
drops in the coming New Year Holiday from Sunday to Tuesday,
according to China Meteorological Administration (CMA) on Saturday.
Cold air from Siberia will enter Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous
Region and other areas in northwestern China on Sunday and it will
affect the central and eastern parts of China on Tuesday and
Wednesday, said Yang Guiming, an expert with the National
Meteorological Center under the CMA.
Most areas except Tibet Autonomous Region will observe sharp
temperature drops on Friday, Yang said.
Meanwhile, another mild cold air will bring light rain and snow
to the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and northeastern China on
Sunday and Tuesday, Yang said.
Snow will blanket Beijing and Tianjin from Monday to Tuesday and
strong wind will slash the eastern parts of northern China,
bringing temperatures down by about 8 to 10 degrees Celsius, said
Wang Bangzhong, deputy director of the CMA's weather forecast and
disaster relief department.
China will receive frequent cold air in the first ten days in
January 2006, according to the Chinese Central Meteorological
Station.
In January 2006, the temperature will be about one to two
degrees Celsius lower than that of the average year's in north and
