Adjust font size:

The government of central China's Henan Province releases a Yellow River pollution warning Friday, disclosing a diesel oil leakage on the river Thursday.

According to the government report, the leakage took place around 10:00 AM at the No. 2 power plant of Gongyi City and six tons of diesel oil leaked from its oil tank into Yellow River's Yiluo branch.

The provincial government took immediate measures after the leakage to curb the spread of pollutants but some diesel oil still flew into Yellow River's mainstream and affects the water quality.

The government orders all the cities and counties along the river to intensify the supervision over the water quality so as to safeguard the safety of the people's drinking water.
