Two people were killed Saturday in a chain of motor vehicle
collisions on express highway linking Beijing and Shenyang, capital
city of northeast China's Liaoning Province.
According to the Municipal Public Security Bureau of Shenyang,
six traffic accidents involving 28 motor vehicles occurred in
succession Saturday morning at the Shenyang section of the express
highway, leaving two people dead and several vehicles on fire.
Exact figure of the injured remained unknown, said the sources.
Policeman and firefighters rushed to the scene for an emergency
rescue. By press time, the fire had been quenched while traffic
control is continued.
It seems that heavy fog and slippery road surface, among other
factors, were ascribed to the cause of the tragedy.
Further investigation is under way.
