China, Japan Hold 5th-round Strategic Dialogue

China and Japan held their fifth-round of strategic dialogue in the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing on Sunday afternoon. 

 

Heading the respective delegations were Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Dai Bingguo and Japanese Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Shotaro Yachi. 

 

Discussion centered on current China-Japan relations and other issues of common concern. 

 

According to the China Daily, Wen Wei Po, after Beijing, the dialogue session will continue in Guiyang, capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province. Yachi is reportedly expected to suggest a possible meeting between the Japanese and Chinese foreign ministers on the sidelines of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue to be held in Qatar later this month. 

 

China and Japan held four rounds of strategic dialogues previously last May, June, October, and in February this year.
