In Beijing on Thursday China’s General Administration of Customs
and the US Trade and Development Agency signed a cooperation
agreement on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)
protection.
Part of the agreement will result in IPR protection experts
introducing to China's customs staff the international customs
regulations relating to IPR protection.
US delegates working in commercial fields will also have an
opportunity to discuss with Chinese customs staff IPR protection
issues.
China and the US are already working together on IPR protection
topics including research on related regulations and staff
training.
IPR protection is a major topic of the existing trade going on
between the two countries. China has taken several measures to
improve IPR protection but the US contends that much remains to be
done. .
