A flash flood triggered by relentless rains on Sunday has killed 11 people and left another 15 missing in Shaoyang city in central China's Hunan Province, local government sources said.

Heavy rain hit Qingshan'ao village in Longhui County at about 2:40 a.m. on Sunday and continued for nearly 11 hours resulting in about 250 millimeters of rainfall. This brought on a flash flood and mudslides.

The flash flood also left more than 14 people injured, four of whom are in critical condition, and toppled 15 houses.

Hunan Vice Governor Yang Taibo has arrived at the site to coordinate the rescue operation and rescue teams are searching for those missing.
