Landslides Kill 13 in South China Region

Landslides triggered by rainstorms have killed 13 people in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region as of Tuesday, leaving six others missing and three injured, local government said.

The 13 victims include three children and an octogenarian woman.

Continuous downpours and landslides began to hit Pubei County, Qinzhou City, on Sunday evening, forcing evacuation of more than 90,000 local residents.

More than 380,000 population were affected and some 600 houses were damaged in the calamity.

The tropical storm Bilis landed in China on Friday, bringing rainstorms, flooding and mudflows in many Chinese regions including Hunan, Guangdong, Fujian and Guangxi, killing more than 200 people with over 100 others still missing.
