The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) will participate in International Tourism Fair to be held in Madrid, Spain, from January 31 to February 4 in a bid to consolidate its market position in Europe.
Addressing a workshop on the Spanish and South American markets on Thursday, ZTA Chief Executive Officer Karikoga Kaseke said it was not in the best interests of the authority to abandon traditional tourist markets as they could be taken up by its competitors.
He said the ZTA would use the Expo to market the country as the best tourist destination in line with its National Tourism Development and Marketing Strategy that outlines its work plan by 2010.
At least 12,000 exhibitors from more than 100 countries are expected to take part in the expo.
