Monthly sales of Mercedes-Benz brand vehicles on the Chinese
market (including Hong Kong) surged 64 percent year-on-year to a
record 2,700 units in January, according to Daimler Chrysler's
Mercedes Car Group.
Klaus Maier, President of Mercedes-Benz China, said sales growth
in China was led by sustained strong demand for the S-class models,
positive market response to the sports utility vehicles and the new
generation of E-class models that just rolled off the assembly in
the Beijing plant.
The president vowed to introduce more models to the Chinese
market to satisfy different needs of the Chinese customers.
The company said sale of its S-class models in China exceeded
1,100 units in China in January.
