The new terminal at Tirana International Airport was officially opened on Wednesday with the promise of offering modern services to passengers to and from Albania.
Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha and about 600 invited guests attended the inauguration. Berisha said the new terminal of about 50 million euros (US$65 million) would serve as a reception gate to all visitors to Albania.
Tirana International Airport is the only one of its kind in Albania. Since May 2005, it has been run by a private consortium, comprising Hochtief Airport (47 percent), DEG Deutsche Investitions-und Entwicklungsgesellschaft (31.7 percent) and the Albanian-American Enterprise Fund (21.3 percent).
