Taiwan pop rock band Mayday returned to Hong Kong Coliseum on
Friday night on their "Jump the World Tour 2007."
An estimated 10,000 fans turned up to jump and sing along to the
band's music through the night.
The "Mayday wave" continued with a follow-up show on Saturday
night.
Mayday performed a selection of their best-known works,
including some songs in the Minnan dialect.
Thousands of Cantonese speakers sang along to the popular 1999
single Peter and Mary in Minnan.
Frontman Ashin said he was fascinated that his Hong Kong fans
could master the language.
The band is set to play in Xiamen on the Chinese mainland on May
19, before moving on to Singapore on June 2.
Mayday, or Wu Yue Tian in Chinese, has led Taiwan's pop rock
scene ever since it was founded in late 1990s.
It played at the Hong Kong Coliseum for the first time in
2006.
