A bomb scare that shook Miami International Airport early Monday was triggered by a traveler attempting to bring on board a loved one's cremated remains, CNN reported.
The report was confirmed by Sari Koshetz, a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) spokeswoman.
"A combination of items in the bag looked suspicious, "she referred to a bag that the traveler carried.
The bag reportedly contained a watch, the ashes and other items.
Hundreds of passengers were evacuated from a terminal of the airport at approximately 6 a.m, as the Miami police bomb squad raced to the scene.
The police gave the all-clear to re-enter the terminal and continue operations at about 7:30 a.m.
Airport spokesman Marc Henderson said that the evacuation delayed six flights, affecting about 2,000 passengers.
According to the TSA, passengers are allowed to carry crematory containers in their checked and carry-on luggage.
