Wangfujing, one of the busiest commercial streets in downtown Beijing, will get an all-round facelift, China News Service reports.
A forum on the development of Wangfujing was held on Monday focusing on brand promotion of the street and a road update project to bring more convenience to customers and tourists visiting the area.
Vice governor of Dongcheng District, Wang Peili, says at the forum that both the street's infrastructure and the management are expected to be improved by the campaign aiming to develop the street into a complex featuring not only business and tourism, but also entertainment and culture.
The concept of management will also be revised to better meet demands of visitors, the official adds.
Nine new commercial and business facilities are to be built in the street over the coming five years with more influential brand names invited to open their business there, according to the street's development plan.
The street, with a history of over 700 years, has attracted more than 100 million visitors this year.
