Adjust font size:

The Park Hyatt will become the world's tallest hotel once it is built as part of the World Financial Center – the tallest building on the mainland, next July in Shanghai, the Youth Daily reported today.

The hotel, covering the 79th to 93rd floor, will have 174 rooms and suites, each of which can offer views of the Huangpu River.

A regular room will be 55 to 60 square meters and 3.1 meters high, the report said.

The five-star hotel was designed by Tony Chi, who will decorate the hotel with elegant color and natural materials to embody a fashionable and Chinese style, the report said.

Restaurants and bars will occupy the 91st to 93rd floor decorated with 25-meter-high roof-to-floor windows, the report said.

The World Financial Center topped out last month at 492 meters in height.

The 101-story building, in Pudong's Lujiazui finance and trade zone, is scheduled for completion in 2008.

The current tallest hotel in the world is Grand Hyatt Shanghai on the 88-story Jin Mao Tower.

However, Hong Kong Ritz-Carlton Hotel has announced that it will build the world's tallest hotel in 2009, the report said.
