Nestlé China
The Switzerland-based Nestlé Group, the world's leading nutrition, health and wellness company, has a long history of doing business in China. It opened a distribution office in Shanghai, the first of its kind in China in 1908. Its first joint venture on the Chinese mainland began operation in 1990. Nestlé China's headquarters are located in Chaoyang District, Beijing.
As one of the earliest foreign companies to enter the Chinese market, Nestlé now operates 31 factories in China, including ten joint ventures, with about 50,000 Chinese employees. It has also set up two R&D centers in China, in Shanghai and Beijing, respectively. Another two will be established in Dongguan City. Guangdong and Xiamen City, Fujian in 2013. 99 percent of Nestlé's products sold in China are produced locally. It has become one of the highly-recognized and most trustworthy foreign food brands in China. Nestlé's sales amounted to 2.5 billion Swiss Franc in 2011, up by 20 percent, ranking seventh in the world, and the figure is expected to double to hit 5 billion Swiss Franc in 2012. Nestlé, which has invested more than 8.3 billion yuan (US$1.3 billion) in its businesses in China, said it will continue to increase its investment there. |
