The sequel to 1998 fantasy/kung fu film "The Storm Warriors" will hit cinemas across Asia on December 10 after the movie's technical team spent 16 months on its visual stunts, a CG effect effort claimed to be unprecedented in the Chinese-language film industry.
"The Storm Warriors I," directed by Hong Kong's elite filmmaker Wai Keung Lau, was a huge success in both critical reviews and at the box office in 1998 , grossing 40 million Hong Kong dollars (US$5.2 million) to top the region's film earnings list that year.
Hong Kong actors Ekin Cheng and Aaron Kwok, who played the two leading roles in the first installment, reprise their previous characters in the sequel.
Co-directed by Peng Shun and Peng Fa, the so-called Peng siblings, the flick also stars Hong Kong's A-list actors Nicholas Tse, Charlene Choi and Simon Yam.
"The Storm Warriors" films are adapted from Hong Kong cartoonist Ma Rongcheng's 1989 classic cartoon series "The Storm Riders," which tells a fictional story of two martial arts heros.
