It is not unusual to see biographies and autobiographies from celebrities, but books by mothers of celebrities are not as common. Well-known writer Wang Shuo's mother Xue Laifeng has recently written her memoir My Family that is set to woo readers with its unique perspective.
The book vividly retells many inside stories of Wang's family including the Korean War, the childhood of Wang Shuo and the lives of the family during the Cultural Revolution (1966-76).
Xue, a retired doctor, depicts Wang Shuo as a son of strong family duty and in the final chapter of the book, she shares her strong affinity with her youngest son.
Xue said that she revised the manuscript three times and that she drew inspiration from many of her son's works.
A famous writer in China, Wang is well known for his hooligan style of writing and has become a cultural icon due to the rebellious characters in many of his novels.
