Michael C. Hall won the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) award Sunday for best actor in the television drama "Dexter," while Julianne Margulies won the SAG award for best actress for her role in a drama series "The Good Wife."

Receiving the award, Hall, who plays a lovable serial killer of criminals in "Dexter," said he has great regard for the team behind the show and the quality of the work, but didn't anticipate its success.

"I certainly didn't foresee bobblehead (dolls) and video games" being licensed from the series, he said.

Hall, 38, also took home a Golden Globe Award last Sunday for his portrayal of police blood-spatter analyst Dexter Morgan.

He said he imagines his SAG statuette will take its place in the passageway between a bathroom and guest bedroom in his home.

Margulies, who won her third SAG award, said she found the red carpet "nerve-racking" but "all quite fun."

A SAG favorite during her long run in the NBC medical drama "ER," Margulies plays the wife of an Illinois state attorney driven back to work as a lawyer when her husband is forced out of office because of a sex scandal.

"I really feel blessed with the writing," Margulies said backstage at the Shrine Auditorium where the ceremony was held, passing along some of the credit for her performance.

Margulies, 43, also gave credit to her parents, noting that they call her after every single episode.

"When is enough enough?" Margulies' father advised her, the actress said. "Be happy creatively or you won't be happy at all."

The actress said playing a woman whose personal life is public fodder was something she was glad to experience at a distance.

"I'm a very private person," Margulies said.
