A weeklong International Children's Film Festival opened in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka on January 23.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina opened the festival with a call for making more films for children, which will help them build their future for leading the country.

Hasina asked the film makers to make at least one film for the children a year that will teach them about the cultural traditions of the country.

She said from now on the government will grant for making five films, but one of these five films should be for children.

Children Film Society Bangladesh with the help of the United Naions Children's Fund (UNICEF) organised the festival. Mobile operator Warid sponsored the festival. Over 50 countries are taking part in the festival in which 243 films will be shown.

The festival will end on Jan. 29. Children up to the age of 18 would enjoy the films free of cost.
