Peter Graves, the Golden Globe award winner who starred in the original "Mission: Impossible" TV series was found dead at his home in Pacific Palisades, California Sunday.
There was no indication of foul play as the actor died of "apparent natural causes," Los Angeles Police Department officer Karen Rayner said.
Born in 1926, Graves joined the announcing staff of the Minneapolis radio station WMIN when he was 16 years old. He later attended the University of Minnesota, majoring in drama. He was best known for his portrayal of Jim Phelps, the leader of the Impossible Missions Force from 1967 through 1973. He reprised the role in 1988-90 on ABC. He also appeared in the ABC miniseries "The Winds of War" and its sequel, "War and Remembrance". His last performance was as the narrator in 2010's "Darkstar".
Graves won a Golden Globe in 1971 for his work on the show "Mission: Impossible", and he was also nominated for an Emmy.
He was survived by his wife Joan Endress and three daughters.
