Pifo New Art Gallery's current exhibition, "Unending Distance," features 31 abstract works by 13 Chinese painters. Its name refers to the works' collective endeavor to distance themselves from current trends and adopt an independent attitude in the fast-changing Chinese contemporary art world.

Works include pieces by Shang Yang, taken from his Dong Qichang Project, and Jiang Dahai, as well as by younger generations of artists such as Huang Jia and Zhang Xuerui. Some painters explore Chinese cultural identity while some turn to spiritual world.
"It's hard to hold a solo exhibition in half or one year because not enough works have been created," Huang said. "But this exhibition is a good platform for me to see the past life I have been through and helps me reflect on my paintings."
