The 23-year-old actress who is a Paris native has appeared in the French films "La Fille du Puisatier," "La Premiere Etoile" and "Un Barrage Contre le Pacifique" as well as the stage play "Equus." "Pirates of the Caribbean 4" is her first English-language film.

The first three "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies were directed by Gore Verbinski, who presented the mysterious and risky adventures of Captain Jack and his mates. With actor Johnny Depp in the starring role, the films were hugely successful at box offices.

The new film is scheduled to begin shooting in Hawaii in June, followed by Los Angeles and the United Kingdom.

The lead actors of the previous "Pirates" movies-Orlando Bloom, who played Will Turner, and Keira Knightley, who played Elizabeth, will not appear in the new sequel, which will focus on Captain Jack.

Rob Marshall, known for his direction of the films "Chicago" and "Nine," will direct the new film. Johnny Depp will play Captain Jack, while Geoffrey Rush will play Hector Barbossa. Spanish actress Penelope Cruz and British actor Ian McShane will play two new characters—Black Mustache and his daughter, while British actor Stephen Graham will play "Scram". No further details about the new characters have been released.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" is scheduled for public release on May 20, 2011.
