Chinese fans of the 2009 romantic movie "New York, I Love You" will soon be able to enjoy a similar film set in one of their own cities - Shanghai.
Chinese director Lu Chuan has come onboard to co-direct "Shanghai, I Love You", the third installment of the Cities of Love franchise created by French film producer Emmanuel Benbihy, Sohu.com reports. The series already includes "Paris, je t'aime" ("Paris, I Love You"; 2006) and "New York, I Love You".
"Shanghai, I Love You" will continue the theme of the previous two films to include a collection of short love stories made by different directors. Besides Lu Chuan ("City of Life and Death"), other directors confirmed are Italian Gabriele Muccino ("The Pursuit of Happyness") and Irish Jim Sheridan ("My Left Foot: The Story of Christy Brown").
Cast members are yet to be announced, and filming is slated to begin in October.
The previous film set in Paris involved a multi-national ensemble of directing and acting talent including the Coen Brothers, Christopher Doyle and Juliette Binoche. The New York episode also boasted a star-heavy cast including Natalie Portman, Orlando Bloom and Maggie Q. Chinese filmmaker Jiang Wen was the creative force behind one of the stories.
