Cast members from the action comedy "Seven Arhat," starring Eric Tsang, Chen Sicheng, Niu Mengmeng, Wang Dongfang and seven child actors, have revealed that the film would be released July 23rd, Mtime.com reports.
They made the announcement at a press conference in Beijing on Monday.
The film follows seven arhats as they fight a group of four grave robbers at a mountain temple. Audiences will be entertained by the Chinese Kung Fu showcased in the film, along with the hilarious plot and different traps the seven kids set for the thieves. The film's production company said they intended to produce it as the Chinese version of the Hollywood "Home Alone" series.
Director Fu Huayang said the seven children were picked from 30,000 boys. He believes that nowadays, kids in China lack action movies featuring children. This film is suitable for all ages. The director also said he made this movie so that Chinese boys could be inspired to develop their own masculinity.
Also at the press conference, comedian Tsang led the seven children in a hip-hop performance. In the film he plays 'Master Xiuxiu," master to the seven arhats.
