Directors Han Sanping and Huang Jianxin said the film will feature an all-star cast, just like 2009's "The Founding of a Republic," which is the most profitable Chinese film to date, with box office revenues reaching 420 million yuan, or 62 million U.S. dollars.

John Woo also acted in "The Founding of a Republic," but his part was cut due to the film's time limits.

"I will get mad at anybody who tries to cut your part again this time," Director Han joked with Woo.

The Communist Party of China was founded on July 1, 1921. The film tells the story of historic characters and events related to the founding of the party between 1911 and 1921.

The film will shoot in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, as well as overseas in Paris and Moscow.

"Jian Dang Wei Ye" will wrap this December and open in cinemas before July 1, 2011.
