The Malaysian romance film "Ice Kacang Puppy Love", directed by Tan Kheng Seong, better known as Ah Niu, held a press conference on Tuesday, August 3 in Taipei, CFP.cn reports.

The film is the directorial debut from the Malaysian singer, after he appeared in two films in 2000 and 2002.

The cast of "Ice Kacang Puppy Love" including Angelica Lee, Fish Leong, Victor Wong and Gary Cao attended the press conference. They are all well-known entertainers among the Chinese-speaking community.

Ah Niu said he has prepared for seven years to make this film. He plans to complete his second film within the next two years.

The new director had to mortgage his property to finance the film but he said he doesn't have too much financial pressure due to the support he has received from his friends.

So far "Ice Kacang Puppy Love" has made 1.3 million U.S. dollars at the box office since its release in Malaysia in April.

The director said the film still has a long way to go to cover its production costs.

Angelica Lee, the lead actress, won Best Actress at the 2002 Golden Horse Awards, and Best Actress at the 2003 Hong Kong Film Awards.
