The Venice Biennale of Architecture, hosted by the Italian magazine Domus, is launching a series of corresponding exhibitions in China, one of which, a themed forum on Chinese architecture, was held in Shanghai on Sept 14.
It's the first time the Biennale has held exhibitions in China. Chinese landscape painter and designer Cao Gang and renowned US architect Michael Mitchell were invited to speak at the forum.
As "Chinese elements" gain international popularity, designers and architects are paying more attention to them in their work, creating a trend that highlights the integration of Chinese and Western cultures in the architectural arts.
Besides the Shanghai forum, Domus is planning an exhibition in Beijing, which will showcase works from the Venice Biennale.
