Although not nominated at the 2010 Hundred Flowers Awards, Zhang Ziyi will still take center stage at the Oct. 16 event as its host, domestic media reported.
The actress will take on her first ever hosting gig with Tu Jingwei and Tao Ching-Ying, the Chongqing Evening News reported, citing unnamed insiders.
Zhang won a Hundred Flowers Award for Best Actress in 2000 for her big-screen debut in "The Road Home" ("Wo De Fuqin Muqin").
Competing for this year's Best Actress award are Zhao Wei ("Mulan"), Zhou Xun ("Painted Skin"), Shu Qi ("If You Are the One"), Fan Bingbing ("Bodyguards and Assassins"), and Bai Jing ("Iron Man").
Up in the Best Actor category are Chen Kun ("Painted Skin"), Zhang Guoli ("The Founding of a Republic"), Huang Xiaoming ("The Message"), Donnie Yen ("Ip Man"), and Hou Yong ("Jing Tian Dong Di").
"The Founding of a Republic" is leading early voting for the award of Best Film.
Winners will be announced at the closing ceremony of the 19th Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Festival.
The festival will open Tuesday, Oct. 12 in Jiangyin, a small city in eastern China's Jiangsu Province. The media predicted a lackluster opening, as Jiangyin has no airport.
It is tradition for the Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Festival, one of the biggest film events in China, to be held in a different host city each year.
