Beijing Gukai Film Festival kicked off at the Yi House Boutique Hotel in 798 Art District, Beijing, on December 18, 2010.

Young directors and producers came to see films made by young Chinese directors at the Yi House Boutique Hotel as part of the event.

The Beijing Gukai Film Festival is an independent short film festival that presents a platform for young Chinese filmmakers to exhibit their works to international film and arts professionals.

The film festival will officially begin in November 2011. Anyone can submit films during the pre-selection process, and those selected by the jury will be shown in the 798 Art District during the festival.
