On a recent visit to Beijing, over the weekend, von Habsburg met several leading functionaries at the foundation to negotiate further cooperation.
Much of his work at the foundation would be to help curate exhibitions on an international scale, said Wang Feng, deputy assistant of chairman of the China Forestry Holdings, initiator of the art foundation, which was founded by Li Guochang, chairman of the company.
He told the Global Times in an exclusive interview that details of the cooperation are still being negotiated, but he was very glad to have this chance to work with an art organization in China. He has a long-standing interest in ancient and contemporary Chinese art.
"I do like Chinese jade, ceramics and porcelains. Also, the contemporary art scene here is thriving," he said during the interview. He mentioned that he had studied a lot about Chinese art in his lifelong career as curator.
He is a world-renowned expert on Peter Carl Fabergé, an inimitable icon in the jewelry industry. He knows his way about in the international art market since he was Chairman of Christie, Manson & Woods Auctioneers in 1966, overseeing a network of offices throughout Europe.
He served as Chairman, New York and Geneva, of Habsburg Fine Art International Auctioneers.
