Biography
Uma Thurman was born in Boston; she was fifteen when discovered by two New York agents and she transferred to the Professional Children’s School in New York City in order to pursue an acting career. Thurman’s entrance into mainstream film really began after her role in Terry Gilliam’s fantasy "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen" and in Stephen Frears’s "Dangerous Liaisons". In 1996, Thurman received an Academy Award nomination for Quentin Tarantino’s "Pulp Fiction". Uma’s other works include "Mad Dog and Glory" opposite to Robert De Niro, Gus Van Sant’s "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues", "Batman & Robin", "Gattaca", Woody Allen’s "Sweet And Lowdown" and John Woo’s thriller "Paycheck". She stars in Quentin Tarantino’s installments "Kill Bill", both of which she was nominated for a Golden Globe. She recently wrapped production on "Bel Ami" opposite Robert Pattinson; she is currently filming "Playing The Field".
