Not only the sofas, but also the brand's trunks are on the most-wanted list. Each piece has approximately 400 finishing studs that are hand applied. The leather one has 3,800 pins, each of which is applied "one at a time, all by hand."

Admitting that the prices are not cheap, Oulton said he wants to sell to people who appreciate the craftsmanship. With the effort that goes into each piece, Oulton said he doesn't have any intention of opening thousands of stores.

"We plan to only open 12 more in China in three years," he said. "I don't think that we can produce products with such high quality for thousands, though we have several factories globally, including one in Foshan (Guangdong Province)."
