Double toil and baby trouble for star couple

You have to feel sorry for child celebrity Lucas, who celebrated his fourth birthday earlier this week while his parents were locked in a nearby room hammering out a bitter divorce with five lawyers, at their Hong Kong home.

Nicholas Tse has called on wife Cecilia Cheung to sign off on the divorce three times already and since he plans to start filming on the mainland, wants to conclude matters asap.

Cheung, according to various Hong Kong rags, is flush with funds from signing an eight-year deal worth $64 million with The New Asia Entertainment Group and is not seeking alimony from Tse. However, she does want him to help pay for the kids and their education.

Clearly, money is not an issue for the best-paid soap opera actor in HK, but access to the kids is. He is asking for shared custody and is reportedly prepared to take the dispute to family court if Cheung does not agree.

Apparently, Cheung made a last-ditch attempt to save her marriage by apologizing to mother-in-law Deborah Li and invited her in-laws to the birthday bash. It must have been a muted celebration.

Another Hong Kong celebrity couple, Tony Leung and Carina Lau, are desperately seeking to have a kid.

After marrying three years ago the pair has been doing all they can to produce an heir, so far without success, and the effort has clearly taken a toll.

Lau, 45, and Leung, 49, have seen the best fertility experts in both HK and the United States and even prayed for help. Now, according to Xin.msn, they are looking at the surrogacy option, at the behest of friend and celebrity Sandra Ng.

They recently flew to California to visit a surrogacy agency, according to one insider, to get health checks and provide information that will put them on the path to parenthood.

Baby trouble seems to be a theme this week as many websites have reported that Taiwan actress Barbie Hsu recently suffered a miscarriage. This is said to have caused tensions with her newly minted husband, the mainland second-generation rich playboy Wang Xiaofei, and the couple looked as though they weren't talking to each other when they returned from a second honeymoon to Beijing last week.

In Shanghai, meanwhile, Hsu's fans were vocal in support of their idol when model Sophie Lu attended a promotional event in the city.

Lu, famously, has claimed she had an affair with Wang, and Hsu's fans called her a "temptress" (and worse) at the event, even lobbing bottles of water at her.

Lu tried to stay professional, dodged the water bottle and completed her assignment, though she will no doubt be worried about other planned protests by the online alliance of Hsu supporters.

Finally, the Red Cross Society of China has been in the news for all the wrong reasons again recently. After the Maserati driving Guo Meimei sullied the organization's name by claiming to have connections with the organization and profiting from it, the Red Cross has been trying to claim the high ground by publishing details of its donations, starting from the Yushu earthquake in April 2010.

Unfortunately, its website appeared to show that Jackie Chan paid just $1 in donations, though Chan's charity organization insists it has proof the star paid $466,000.

Jet Li and Chow Yun-fat were similarly affected, though the Red Cross' records seem to be at fault - not the stars.
