Wang Qianyuan, the lead actor of the award-winning Chinese film "Piano in a Factory," was crowned best actor at the 7th Chinese American Film Festival.
The award ceremony was held last weekend at the headquarters of the Director's Guild of America in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
Regarded as the most anticipated home-grown black comedy of the year, "Piano in a Factory" has won recognition from many international film festivals including the Tokyo International film Festival (TIFF), the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival (HKAFF), the Miami International Film Festival (MIFF) and the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF).
Wang Qianyuan, the winner of the best actor award at the TIFF, obtained the Golden Angel status for the Best Actor under the assessment of the judging panel of the Chinese American Film Festival.
Many heavyweights from the American film industry were on the judging panel, including Mike Ryan, the chairman of American Film Market Association, Mike Medavoy, president of American Phoenix Movies and ex-chairman of the Academy Awards, Sid Ganis.
Wang will join the competition for the best actor award at the 48th Golden Horse Awards in November.
