The 10th International Student Film and Video Festival (ISFVF 2011) hosted by the Beijing Film Academy held its closing ceremony yesterday in China's capital, mtime.com reports.
Hou Guangming, professor and Secretary of the Party Committee at the Beijing Film Academy, and Zhang Huijun, President of the Beijing Film Academy and film festival chairman, joined by famous directors, including Wang Xiaoshuai, Xiefei and Lu Chuan, at the event. Ambassadors from several embassies in Beijing, including Ghana and Benin, also attended the closing ceremony with students from the film academy and other domestic and international art schools.
More than 900 films from 46 countries participated in the award competitions, and 88 of which were shortlisted. Twenty-three of the shortlisted films were from mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
The winners of nine awards, including the International Student Film Award, Asian Best Student Film Award and Audience Award, were announced at the closing ceremony. Audience Awards were given to 10 films, including "Basement," "Barbakan," "Christmas Piggy," "Time Frames" and "Boy's Village." The Chinese student productions "Hil Baboon" and "Tofu" received the Chinese Student Film Award. The film "Behind the News" won the Asian Best Student Film Award.
The works presented at the seven-day film festival have been officially incorporated into the teaching materials used in Beijing Film Academy courses.
Two competitions for international student works and Chinese student works had been set up at the event so students and teachers at the Beijing Film Academy and other film and TV broadcast colleges in China could have an opportunity to appreciate and learn from the works of students from all over the world as well as strengthen their personal and professional exchanges with them.
