Actor Zhang Mo has been released from prison on February 14, the Beijing Morning Post reports following confirmation from the Beijing police on Tuesday morning. Zhang was detained for allegedly possessing and taking drugs.

According to the report, Zhang's father Zhang Guoli and step-mother Deng Jie went to the prison to visit Zhang Mo at about 10 p.m. on Sunday. However, Zhang Mo did not follow them as they left.

Zhang was caught using drugs on January 30. According to related regulations, Zhang's detention period should last for 13 days. Rumors on the Internet claiming that Zhang Mo had been released early were inaccurate.

Hua Yi Brothers released a statement of apology on behalf of the actor on February 14, in which Zhang stated, "I regret my mistakes. I'm so sorry to my family, my colleagues and the people who love me. I sincerely ask for your forgiveness."
