Zhang Ziyi, a renowned Chinese actress, is preparing to shoot her new film, qq.com reports.
Actress Zhang Ziyi won Actress of the Year for her excellent performance in director Gu Changwei's HIV-themed film "Love for Life" at the China Film Directors' Guild Awards held on April 6.
Zhang was a media favorite for the awards and she accepted an interview during the ceremony.
Zhang Ziyi spoke about her next project, "Sophie's Revenge 2".
"After a series of preparations, the new film is planning to kick off at the end of June or the beginning of July," Zhang said. "The new film is tentatively titled 'Sophie's Revenge 2,' but the plot is more creative than the first one."
Zhang also revealed in the interview that she will take the lead role but that leading male actor is subject to change.
When asked whether Fan Bingbing and Ruby Lin would be in the film, Zhang stated, "I do hope the original cast can reunite. Unfortunately, the new plot is different from the previous one. Plus, everyone's work schedules clash with each other, which makes things difficult. I will find funnier friends to join us."
"Sophie's Revenge 2" will have a new role for Zhang as producer.
"Sophie's Revenge", released in 2009, boasted a strong cast from China and South Korea including Zhang Ziyi, Ruby Lin, Fan Bingbing and So Ji-Seob. The film was able to gross about 100 million yuan that year.
