New horror movie "The Cabin in the Woods," is set to hit the big screen.

The film tells the story of 5 friends who go to a remote cabin in the woods for a vacation but find themselves face to face with something sinister.

However, the plot doesn't follow the usual horror conventions and is full of surprises.

Actress Kristen Connelly plays a young woman Dana who spends much of the film screaming and covered in blood.

She says she had no idea how much work went into making fake blood.

"Anything that involves blood, really, you don't think about how much time it takes to get it on and get it off and get it matched to exactly what it was the last time or what it is later. All of that stuff is pretty intense, so that was a big day of shooting," said Connelly.

The scream fest which also stars Chris Hemsworth, Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz and Jesse Williams, hits screens in North America on Friday.
