The Beijing College Student Film Festival ended on Thursday with an awards ceremony at the capital's Olympic Sports Center, mtime.com reports.

The Most Popular Actor and Actress awards went to Wen Zhang and Yan Ni. Wen Zhang won the award for the second time. "The cup seems the same, but the number has changed from 18 to 19." Wen joked at his acceptance speech.

Best Actor and Actress honors went to Li Xuejian for "Yang Shanzhou" and Liang Jing for "Son of Stars" respectively. Li has now won best actor awards at all the different Chinese mainland film festivals.

Gu Changwei clinched the award for Best Director for feature film, "Love For Life". The coveted Best Film award was bagged by low-budget film, "Mr. Tree".

Launched in 1993, the Beijing Student Film Festival is sponsored by Beijing Normal University and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Radio and Television.

As a bridge linking young people to film, the festival has been providing a stage for low-budget Chinese films for new directors and actors to make their debuts.
