Tsu Hark's 3D IMAX movie "Flying Sword of Dragon Gate" will appear in IMAX theaters in North America in September, Mtime.com reports.
Since it was released on Chinese mainland last December, the movie has earned US$ 86.5 million at Chinese box offices, ranking fourth on the list of top-grossing movies. The other three are "Avatar," "Transformers 3" and the 3D "Titanic."
Yu Dong, head of production company Bona Film Group, said he was pleased about the firm's cooperation with IMAX in releasing "Flying Sword," which is China's first 3D IMAX movie.
"The success of the movie shows the huge potential of the Chinese market and at the same time shows that Chinese directors can perfectly control new filmmaking technology," Yu said.
