Huayi Brothers, one of the biggest private film production companies in China, plans to release four movies on IMAX screens in the fourth quarter of the year, Chinesefilms.cn reports.
The announcement was made by Wang Zhonglei, President of Huayi Brothers, and Richard L. Gelfond, CEO of IMAX at a press conference on Wednesday (September 12, 2012) in Beijing.
The four movies will be "Tai Chi 0", "Tai Chi Hero", "CZ12" and "Back to 1942".
"Tai Chi 0", which was well received at this year's Venice International Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival, will be the first Chinese movie screened in IMAX/3-D format.
Huayi Brothers and IMAX first established a cooperative relationship in 2009. The pair released three movies on IMAX screens in 2010, including Feng Xiaogang's "Aftershock".
Besides the four movies, Huayi Brothers also would release three additional IMAX productions in the future, Wang said.
