Chinese writer Mo Yan has drawn wide interest after winning the Nobel Prize for Literature.

It's being reported nearly 20 film production companies are in negotiations to buy the rights to his books.

In 1987, Zhang Yimou's "Red Sorghum", which was based on Mo's novel of the same name, won wide acclaim in world film markets.

During an interview Mo said he's willing to take charge of the screenplays if any director can bring his other works, such as "Big Breasts & Wide Hips" or "Life and Death Are Wearing Me Out" to the big screen.

But he says the books can only be made into movies if the directors identify the true dramatic conflicts at the heart of the novels.

Since winning the Nobel Prize Mo's books have sold out in many Chinese cities.
