'Lincoln' leads BAFTA nominations

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards nominations have been announced, with U.S. civil war epic "Lincoln" leading the way.

The film, starring Daniel Day-Lewis as former American president Abraham Lincoln, received ten nominations, including Best Actor for Day-Lewis.

Co-stars Tommy Lee Jones and Sally Field also got nods for Best Supporting Actor and Actress, but director Steven Spielberg missed out on a Best Director nod.

Close behind was musical adaptation "Les Miserables" and director Ang Lee's fantasy film "Life of Pi" with nine nominations each.

James Bond film "Skyfall" has been shortlisted for eight awards including Best British Film, which it's being pitted to win.

Meanwhile, Ben Affleck's political thriller "Argo" got seven nods, "Zero Dark Thirty" and "The Master" both fared well with five and four nods respectively.
