"The Matrix" star Keanu Reeves attended a photo shoot on Monday, May 20 to promote his directorial debut film "Man of Tai Chi" at the Cannes Film Festival in southern France, the movie website Mtime.com reports.

Reeves talked about the Chinese kung-fu film and the difficulties of making it. Although he also plays one of the lead roles in the film, this was his first time attending the Cannes Film Festival as a director.

A mix of action and personal drama, "Man of Tai Chi" follows a young man played by Tiger Chen, who is recruited to take part in a no-roles underground fighting tournament. His decision, which is manipulated by Reeves' sinister character, plunges him into an increasingly painful and tumultuous underworld where people are forced to fight each other to their death.
