Actress Xu Jinglei declared Monday afternoon on blog.qq.com that she was not married, adding that she would rather hide her weight than her marital status.

She was responding to a rumor widely circulating on Chinese social websites on Monday about her filling in her "Application Forms for Hong Kong" by ticking the "married" box in the "Marital status" section. The rest of the information on the form such as her birthday and career was totally the same as Xu's real status.

The rumor went out when Xu and actor Stanley Huang shot the film "Go LaLa Go!" in 2009.

Over the past four years the two were reported to be married on many occasions. Last year Huang was said to have bought a house in Los Angeles and Xu once went to Taiwan to visit Huang's family members.

Although the rumors were widespread, the two have never officially confirmed this or spoken about each other in public; rather, they prefer to simply smile and withhold comments.
